The Light is on for You!     Tuesday, February 23, 2016

This is the second year that the Archdiocese of Cincinnati will ask every parish (or pastoral region) to make available the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23.  Because Fr. Adam has agreed to help me, both St. Ann and Sacred Heart will participate.  I will have the regular confessions at Sacred Heart on Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. and then at 7:00 p.m. I will remain in the confessional at Sacred Heart from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as part of “the Light is on for you program.”  Fr. Adam will be in the confessional at St. Ann from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Certainly this is an ideal time for persons who normally make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation to make a Lenten confession.  But this is also a time when persons who may have been away from the Sacrament of Confession for a long time to assure themselves of a sympathetic ear, and an opportunity to unburden themselves to any priest at any parish (in the Archdiocese) without fear of being chastised for being away from the sacrament too long.  Each priest in every confessional is essentially saying, “We want you to experience how good it feels to reconnect with this important sacrament in our tradition.”  This annual practice fits in so well this year with the Holy Father’s Year of Mercy.

You will hear this advertized on radio.  You can participate by telling fallen away Catholic friends about this “two hour” window of opportunity when the confessional at every Catholic parish (or pastoral region) will be open for business.

CMA

To the date of the publishing of this bulletin, 241 Sacred Heart donors have pledged a total of $40,961 toward the 2016 Catholic Ministries Appeal.  This represents about 84.8% of the parish goal as defined by the Archdiocese.

Your pledge makes your parish a leader among parishes by showing that you and your fellow parishioners are making sure your parish is pulling its own weight.

Devotional Services during Lent

At St. Ann, Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will take place on the Fridays of Lent (except for Good Friday) at 7:00 p.m.   At Sacred Heart, Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will take place on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.

The lay presider’s group of Sacred Heart will have Stations of the Cross without a priest or deacon and therefore without Benediction on Friday evenings at Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m.
