May Marian Devotion
May Marian Devotion will take place on May 12 at Sacred Heart. The procession begins at 6:30 p.m. As in the past, those First Communicants who are present will lead us in the Litany of Mary.
Reflection on Scripture
The Feast of the Ascension has been moved from Thursday (the fortieth day after Easter) to the Seventh Sunday of Easter so that more people can make it to Mass for this special celebration. What we celebrate is very tied to the Eucharist. A Protestant Church that does not admit of the Real Presence, (trans-substantiation) is certain to miss out on the major theological truth this feast reveals. Jesus says to his disciples (and through scripture to us) that we have graduated. We don’t need to physically see the resurrected Christ; we have now become through the Eucharist the Mystical Body of Christ. We are the extension of Christ into the world in a way the physically resurrected body of Christ could never be. You can see God’s plan. Because of the Eucharist, the Mystical Body of Christ touches every part of this world and perhaps soon space itself as we expand the habitat of humanity. Our missionary activity as the Mystical Body of Christ is not confined to carrying the faith to the corners of the world. We are the Body of Christ carrying his real presence to the corners of the world.
