Grocery Certificate and Gift Card Programs
As we start a New Year, please consider buying “gift cards” as presents for your friends and relatives. This program could be a major fundraiser for each respective parish if everyone used it.
Reflection on Scripture
The story of Jesus birth appears in Matthew’s gospel and Luke’s gospel respectively. It is not a story but a theological reflection in the beginning of John’s gospel; since John’s gospel was written to the early Church, all of whom already knew the story of Jesus birth. The story of a child being born while a family is traveling is not all that unique. The story of an omnipotent God choosing to be born into time (which He created) and into the world as a vulnerable child sets the stage for the revelation of an all powerful God with whom we can fall in love. In our humanness we see God as what we all once were, a baby. It is hard to get past human fear so as to love an omnipotent supreme Being; but no one is intimidated by a baby. If we can love the infant Jesus born in a manger, we can love, and not fear, the omnipotent God.
