Graduation at Sacred Heart

Graduation at Sacred Heart will take place on Thursday evening, May 25.  Congratulations to all.  Be assured of our prayers.

Life in the Spirit Seminar

The Saint Ann/Sacred Heart Pastoral Region is sponsoring a Life in the Spirit Seminar that will begin on Friday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. and continue on the Fridays thereafter at Sacred Heart.  This is a wonderful way to experience Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church.  If you have not ever asked in prayer that the Holy Spirit of God fill you as He filled the hearts of the Apostles at Pentecost, try it.  But be aware, when you ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, it’s like stomping down on the accelerator of a 426 hemi.  Don’t be afraid, just enjoy the ride.

Festival Bid and Buy Booth

We have a display of Easter Eggs in the Narthex, each depicting some item needed for the bid and buy booth at the festival.  Taking one of these eggs will assure the bid and buy organizers that they can expect this donation for the booth for the festival.  Please consider at least looking at the options and consider if you can make the commitment of taking an egg.

Defibrillators for Church and School

Parish Council has approved the installation of modern defibrillator units in church and near the gymnasium.  The units are self-instructing in that a voice in the unit verbally instructs the user at every step.  Even though the fire department is across the street, if we use the units one time, they have fulfilled their emergency purpose.  The one for Church will probably be located on the wall in the usher’s room.

Please Remember

This is just a reminder that all active priests of the Archdiocese are required to attend the convocation in Columbus from June 19 to June 22.  There will be no availability for morning Masses or even Funeral Masses on TuesdayWednesday, or Thursday June 20-22.  I have made provision at each parish for a communion service each day.  Funerals will of necessity be delayed.

Reflection on Scripture

“I will not leave you orphans!”  Jesus reveals God’s plan that he ascend to the Father and send the Holy Spirit of God (the Third Person of the Holy Trinity) to enliven the Church.  Jesus is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.  Remember that we believe in One God, in Three Divine Persons.  Jesus wants us to know that he has not decided to abandon us.  Rather, he wants the Church to emerge as his presence in the world.  When he sends the Holy Spirit upon us, all that he planned for the Church will be fulfilled.
