4/1 A Message from Fr. Tharp

Dear Sacred Heart and St. Ann Parishioners and friends:

Sunday Mass for Palm Sunday will be live streamed from the sanctuary of Sacred Heart Parish on Saturday Evening (April 4, 2020) at 5:00 p.m.  When you click on the St. Ann or Sacred Heart websites you will see an icon for joining the “live” celebration.  I realize 5:00 p.m. may not work for some of your schedules.  After the live stream is completed, you can also watch the full recorded Mass anytime thereafter.

At present, St. Ann does not have WIFI capabilities in the church building, so until we can hardwire a connection to the building, we will not be able to “live stream” from St. Ann.  For this reason, I plan on recording the Holy Thursday and Good Friday Services at St. Ann (if the machinery works) and placing them on the Websites.  In this way, the Pastoral Region of St. Ann and Sacred Heart can provide Holy Week services using both locations.

As yet I do not have any indication from the Archdiocese as to whether our schools will be allowed to restart in May.  As soon as I receive any indication, I will email it to you.

I have made contact with most of the weddings and baptisms that are scheduled during April.  We are permitted to do private individual baptisms so long as there are no more than ten people present and (as required by social distancing) all stay ten feet away from each other (this does not apply to the mom, dad, and baby).    Weddings are subject to the same restriction, so in most cases these are rescheduling.  Most reception halls are closed anyway.  I have had one private (less than ten people) grave side services since the more restrictive procedures have taken effect.

I will be sending another email blast before the weekend to give more specifics as to how to join the live streamed Palm Sunday Mass.

Your pastor in the Lord Jesus,

Fr. Larry Tharp
